GENERAL RULES

 

 

- All drivers must wear proper racing gear at all times (helmet, neck brace, jacket (if no jacket long sleeves), gloves, etc).   No shorts in junior classes.

 

- Disorderly conduct will not be tolerated, and will result in disqualification. Drivers are responsible for the actions of crew members.

 

- All drivers are expected to keep the pit areas clean before they leave.  Thank you!

 

- All engine oils and fuels will need to be emptied in oil barrels.  Please do not empty on ground.  Thank you for your cooperation. 

 

- Driver’s must attend pit meetings.  This will be mandatory!!   No exceptions!

 

- Inspections areas and scoring area are off limits during all race events.  This will be enforced.

 

- Crew members cannot approach karts in scale area until the kart has passed the scale area.

 

- The track reserves the right to tech any engine or kart at any time. Anyone refusing tech will be disqualified.

 

- If a driver is disqualified or black flagged for any reason, he must exit the track immediately. 

 

- If a driver retailiates while a caution is out he will be disqualified.  If a driver retailiates when leaving the track he will be disqualified. 

    

- Any kart that can not proceed after 2 laps of caution must be immediately removed from the track.

 

- All karts must have clear visible numbers, or will not be scored.

 

- All weights must be bolted on with 5/16 or larger bolts and must be double nutted or cotter keyed. All weights must be painted white with their number either stamped on painted on the weights. If any weights come off a kart during a race that kart will be disqualified.  It is recommended that you only use weights 5 lbs or under on a kart.

 

- Anyone entering "hot area" i.e. scales too fast at any time the kart being represented will be disqualified.  After crossing scales the karts should be turned off and push to the pit areas. 

 

- Drivers are solely responsible for all crew members at all times. No crew member will be allowed onto the track area without approval from track officials. Drivers will be subject to disqualification if any crew member does not follow the track rules or does not act in a proper manner. Crew members are not allowed to jump the fence at any time. It is the responsibility of every person in the pits to act in a sportsmanlike manner.

 

- No cursing at officials, other racers, or spectators. No fighting.

 

- Drugs or Alcohol will not be tolerated. Violations will result in removal from premises.

 

- Weapons on premises will not be tolerated.  Violations will result in removal from premises.

 

- There will be a 5 minute hold for protest for the top 4 or 5 karts (depending on the kart count and money races) after crossing the scale. Do not leave the scale area until told to do so by the scale official.

 

- Anyone not crossing the scales will be disqualified (qualifying or main).

 

-  All races we will attempt two "double file" starts.  If they cannot start the race, we will do a single file start, no caution, unless kart or driver is in danger. Deliberate spin or stopping on track to "bait" caution will result in disqualification.

 

- On a single file restart no passing until after the start line.  This is not the finish line.  There is a start line at J & M.   

 

- Double file restart will result only if there are 2 or more karts causing the caution in adult classes. 

 

- Blocking during a race is not allowed, until the white flag lap.

 

- Karts attempting to rough drive another by running them up the track or down the track will not be tolerated. 

 

- Pump around will not be used.  We have fuel tester.   

 

- If you are not on the grid and ready to race when your class is released onto the track, you will miss your event. If you are on the grid and experience a problem, you will have 2 laps to enter the track, after which the race will begin and you will not be allowed to enter.

 

- While one race is on the track, the next class must be lined up on the grid, ready to go.

 

- Decisions made by the flagman and/or race director are final.

 

- If you cause 2 cautions in any race, you will be black flagged off the track until your next race.  OHV ROOKIE classes will be the exception.

 

-  Super heavy drivers must weigh at least 200 lbs race ready.  Total weight is 400 lbs kart and driver.   No weights added in driver’s personal body or racing gear.

 

-  Sumo drivers must weigh at least 215 lbs race ready.  Kart and driver 415 lbs.  No weights added in driver's personal body or racing gear. 

 

-  Triple X drives must weigh at least 250 lbs race ready.  Kart and drive 450 lbs.  No weights added in driver's personal body or racing gear.     

 

- Rain Delays/Rain Outs and payouts for heats will be as follows.  If you get your 1 heat (all classes) in we will pay based on actual results  If you do not get in your 1 heat we will scratch everything and start new show on rain date.  We will hold for 1 hour to determine whether racing or not.

 

- Rain Delays/Rain Outs and payouts for qualifying will be as follows.  If we qualify and you get your qualifying in we will pay based on your qualifing results.  If you do not get (all classes) qualifying in we will scratch everything and start a new show on rain date.  We will hold for 1 hour to determine whether racing or not.

 

- Rain Delays/Rain Outs and payouts for money shows $1,000 and up will be as follows.  All of these races will not be considered a rain out.  We will hold all racers until the determination of the outcome.  If a race is not completed we will have a makeup race date.  No payouts will be made until the race is completed.  Makeup race date will be determined on which date the original race was scheduled.  Example if it is a Saturday, we will hold the makeup race date on the following Sunday.   

 

- Rain Delays during heats and/or feature will be called based on the flagman’s determination of track safety.  If he stops the race at any time for a rain delay, you need to exit the track immediately.  The race is under a red flag and karts cannot be worked on. The race director and/or flagman will determine if it is safe to return to the track.  Drivers need to finish the race before they will get scored or a pay out.  We will hold for 1 hour to determine whether racing is advisable or not. 

 

- Once Hot laps sessions have been closed, we will not allow anyone to have practice or extra hot laps on the track.  Don't ask and do not take it upon yourself to enter the track.  If you are caught on the track after hot lap sessions have been closed, you will not be allowed to run your first heat.  The only exception to this rule is if someone comes in late as a result of a unavoidable issue.

 

- All classes, except OHV Blue Rookies, must know their starting position.  We will not throw a caution if your are not in your correct position at the start of a race.

 

- Adult Beginners - After you have 2 feature wins you will graduate and not be allowed to run in this class again.  

 

- OHV Blue Rookie & Junior 1 classes - If you move up a class you cannot move back down.  OHV Blue Rookies, OHV Blue Junior 1. 

 

- After entering the track for starting postions and someone has broken or not entered the track we will not criss cross lineups.  All karts on the inside/outside of the lineup will move straight ahead to get the track position. 

 

- We will race back to the flag in all adult classes.

 

- We will go back a lap in all children’s classes.

 

- Children that are 13 years of age will be allowed to race in adult classes, if they have a birthday during our racing season.  You will need to show proof. 

 

- We will be having time limits on heats and features. 

 

- Intermission between heats will be 10 minutes.  Intermission between your 2nd heat and feature will be 15 minutes. 

 

- Driver’s under the age of 16 must show proof of age.

 

- All parents need to sign a release form for their children to race.  This will be mandatory!  This will be a one time release kept on file. 

 

- We will run any class.  2 or more makes a class.  

 

 

TECH RULES (AlCOHOL STOCK, LIMITED, ANIMAL)

 

 

    1. WILL BE RUNNING WKA (ALCOHOL) ENGINE RULES.

 

    2. MUFFLERS ARE OPTIONAL. LOOP HEADERS MUST BE WRAPPED!

 

    3. $50.00 TO PROTEST AND $50.00 TO ACCEPT.  $10.00 WILL GO FROM THE LOSER’S  PURSE TO TECH MAN.

 

     4.  IF YOU DENY PROTEST 2 TIMES YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RACE AT THIS TRACK.

 

    5. TRACK RESERVES THE OPTION TO CHECK THE PLATE..

 

    6. ANY DISORDERLY CONDUCT IN THE TECH AREA WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.

 

    7. Limited Modified will be mixing classes.  Flathead will weigh 350 lbs and Animal will be 375.  

 

TIRE RULE

 

     1.  Burris Tire Rule.  Slicks Only!

 

     2.  Burris any compound. 

 

     3.   Prepping tires will be allowed until further notice.  No WET tires thru the staging lane or on the track.

          This will be enforced.

 

     4.  All preps that are brought to J & M Motor Sports track, must have a ingredient label or a number

          to contact for the ingredients, in case of human or animal consumption.  

 

        

 

 

 

 

 

 

FLAGS AND LIGHTS

 

 

FLAGS AND LIGHTS MUST BE OBEYED AT ALL TIMES WITHOUT QUESTION!!!

 

 

- Green light / green flag = start of race or practice

 

- Yellow light / yellow flag = caution on track, slow down immediately.Hold your position and  race back to flag if in adult classes.  Children’s classes will hold your position and do not race back to flag.

 

 - Red light / red flag = come to a complete stop

 

- Blue flag with yellow stripe = another kart is about to overtake you. This flag means to go to the top of the track and out of the way. Any violations will result in disqualification

 

- Black flag rolled in flagman's hand = warning that your driving or actions are unsafe and will not be tolerated.

 

-White Flag = One Lap Remaining

 

-Checkered flag = end of race, please slow down and pull off the track.

OVERHEAD VALVE BOX STOCK CLONE CLASSES 

 

  • 196CC 6.5 HP ENGINE - BLUE, YELLOW, OR BLACK.
  • 87-93 Octane Pump Gas Only!
  • REMOTE GAS TANK OPTIONAL IN ALL CLASSES.
  • 196 cc only!

  • The only modifications to this motor allowed are taking out the governor.
  • Shoe type clutch only!! Noram and Max Torque are a few of the shoe types. 

  • Burris tires only!
  • Any compound burris tires.
  • May use any gear
  • 35 chain only!
  • Gas cap must be tightened.  Either by securely duct taping the top or a form fitting gas cap. 
  • Pipe may or may not be used, but it has to be the J & M Motor Sports spec pipe.  Spec pipe is 12-14" length & 5/8 id.   
  • No porting, decking or polishing on motors.
  • No fuel additives.
  • No oil additives.
  • There is also a $140.00 claim rule.  The claim rule is for motors only!!  You must be in that class to be able to claim the motor.
  • Track reserves the right to buy and/or tech any motors
  • No interchangeable parts.

      •     BOX STOCK CLONE LITE - ages 14 and  up.   325 lbs minimum.

                  

      •   BOX STOCK CLONE MEDIUM - ages 14 and up.           350 lbs minimum.

      PRO CLONE RULES

       

      Any header as long as it has a stock pipe and may use class RLV Muffler, and is open to any type clutch, and may or may not use billet flywheel.  No claim rule.  Tech only!!!

       

      Description: Single cylinder, 2 valve, OHV 4 cycle
      Important Note: All parts must be Box Stock factory production parts unless otherwise specified in this rules manual. No machining or alteration of parts is allowed unless specifically noted. All parts will be subject to a comparison to a known Box Stock part (when performing a "stock part" comparison check it is recommended to use a + /- .005” tolerance).   

       Engine will be teched as raced.
      Combustion chamber volume: 26.5 cubic centimeter minimum, with piston at TDC, using prescribed procedure.

      Cylinder Head Requirements: Must be OEM casting only. Porting and / or grinding are not permitted. Valve seats are two angles 45 degrees valve face and 30 degrees top relief. Intake seat maximum ID .897” , Exhaust seat maximum ID .862”. Stock head bolts only, must have four. Head gasket/s maybe after market, must be of stock configuration, 2 gaskets permitted with a total minimum thickness of .008” and maximum of .020”. No copper or aluminum gaskets allowed. Any stock configuration exhaust gasket allowed no other sealer.

      Block Requirements: Block must remain stock as produced. Stub for governor may be removed and hole plugged. No machining of block allowed. Welding to the block shall be for rod damage repair only and may not constitute a functional modification. Stock cylinder bore is 2.685" max. Stroke is 2.123" + .010" or - .005". No piston pop-out allowed. Matting surface finish of block and cylinder head is a non tech item, sufacing of both to correct gasket failure and meet cc check allowed. May use 2 side cover gaskets of stock configuration.

      Carburetor requirements: Huayi OR RUI*ING model carb only. Carb to intake sealer is gasket only no other sealer allowed. Choke must be as supplied from factory, but may be fixed to stay in open position. Venturi .615” NO-GO. Rear carb bore .751” NO-GO. Main fuel jet .042” NO-GO. Low speed idle jet .019” NO-GO. Stock emulsion tube must be used and unaltered, .066" max ID (no pass through). Throttle shaft - .115” minimum. Butterfly - .037” minimum. Aftermarket air filter adapter allowed (max length of 1.375).

      Valve Train: Stock valve cover only with any stock configuration gasket, no sealer. Factory stock rocker arms 1:1 ratio and push rods only. Stock valves only 45 degree angle only both valves, Intake valve Max OD .985” +/- .005” and Exhaust valve Max OD .948” +/- .005”, no modifications allowed. Only Box Stock valve springs. Max wire diameter on spring wire is .071” with a maximum tension of 10.8 lbs. at a height of .850”. Lash cap on exhaust valve only. Valve stem seal allowed only on Intake valve, maximun lip tickness of .027”. Minimum thickness of Intake retainer .230” , Exhaust retainer .250”. BS lifters only, no modifications allowed.

      Ignition system: Stock Box Stock system only and must be unaltered. Kill switch and low oil sensor may be disabled and removed. Flywheel: Box Stock flywheel only(5lbs 4 oz minimum) including plastic fins. No alterations of any type allowed. Maximum ignition timing advance is 18° BTDC when a straight edge placed on the outside of the right-hand coil leg is just touching the right-hand edge of the metal magnet cover of the flywheel. Flywheel key is non-tech.


      Piston and Rings: Must be unaltered Box Stock only. No machining of piston and rings allowed.

      Connecting Rod: Stock Box Stock rod only. No machining of any type allowed. Stock rod bolts only.

      Crankshaft Requirements: Stock Box Stock crankshaft required. Machining, polishing, addition of material or other alteration of crankshaft is prohibited. Stock factory timing gear mandatory and must be installed in original location. Crankshaft journal diameter is 1.180”max - 1.168” min.

      Camshaft Requirements: Stock camshaft cores only, ez-spin assy must remain as stock. Cam lobe base circle diameter .865" -.005”/+.010” Duration check for Intake and Exhaust lobes (taken off pushrod). Intake duration of 219 degrees at .050 lift/86 degrees at .200 lift. Exhaust duration of 222 degrees at .050” lift/97 degrees at .200” lift(All duration checks on intake and exhaust allow +/- 2 degrees for wear and gauge variances). Max Intake lift on cam .225” – Min .215”lift taken at the pushrod. Max Intake lift at the valve .238” Taken on valve spring retainer with zero lash. Max Exhaust lift on cam .232” – Min .222” lift taken at the pushrod. Max Exhaust Lift at the valve .242” Taken on valve spring retainer with zero lash.

      Blower Housing Assembly: pull starter must be present and remain stock. Pull starter may be rotated for a better crank angle.


      Fuel Tank Requirements: Floor Mounted fuel tank mandatory (stock tank must be removed). Pulse type fuel pump allowed.

      Fuel Pump Requirements: Fuel pump must be pulsed from either the crank case or the valve cover. You may install a flat metal plate in the original tank location for the purpose of mounting the throttle linkage and fuel pump.

       

       

       

       

 

J & M MOTOR SPORTS

 

POINTS SERIES RULES

 

 

  • Running 7 points races.

  • Throw out 1 race.

  • $30.00 membership per person.

  • $20.00 per class.  $10.00 for payout that night, and $10.00 to go into class points.

  • The class points fund paid by the racers will go to cash payouts at the banquet. 

  •  Must race 6 races to be eligible for trophies, cash payouts, and prizes.

  •  All racers in points that race 6 races will be paid back at the banquet. 

  •  All points will be 2 heats and a feature. 

  • Anyone not points racing and wanting to race the night of points will still pay $20.00 entry fee.  $10.00 paid for 100% payout at the end of the night.  $10.00 to go in class points fund.

  •  
  • Points awarded will be 25 points for 1st and 23 points for 2nd and 21 for 3rd, and 1 point per place after 19 and back.

  • If more than 20 karts run in any class.  We will race with a B Main.  18 karts will start, with top 2 winners of the B Main to start in the feature.   

  • If any driver gets disqualified, this will result in that driver getting last place points.
    • Incentive for running all 7 point races will be 3 additonal bonus points.
    •
